I'll be honest. Feeding a kid in a world full of ultra-processed everything is one of the hardest parts of parenting. Sadly we've been so conditioned to think that kids need something different from the rest of us. Brightly colored, sugar-loaded, fortified-with-synthetic-vitamins different.

I don't buy it. And these pancakes are proof.

We make these almost every week. My kid asks for them. They taste like a treat, they come together in minutes, and every single ingredient is doing something real for their body. That's the standard I hold our food to and honestly, it's not that complicated once you start thinking about food through a biology lens.

Why I Feed My Kid This Way

When I look at what's in most kids' breakfast foods, the cereals, the pouches, the "whole grain" waffles, I see a lot of ingredients that are working against the body, not with it. Inflammatory seed oils, refined sugars, synthetic vitamins that can't be absorbed the way real food nutrients can.

What I want for my kid is a body that works well from the inside out. Strong gut, sharp brain, stable energy, clear skin as they grow. That starts with what we put on the plate. And it doesn't have to be a battle. It just has to taste good.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 tbsp high quality flour
  • 1 tbsp full fat sour cream
  • ΒΌ tsp baking powder
  • 1 capsule grass fed beef liver
  • 2 farm fresh eggs
  • Pinch of salt
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Splash of vanilla extract

Directions

Mix all ingredients until smooth. Cook over medium-low heat in plenty of butter until golden brown on both sides. That's it. Seriously.
